The purpose of the Western Corridor study is to evaluate transportation, land use and related conditions and create a Transportation Management Plan that presents a unified, long-term vision for managing and improving the transportation system in western Vermont. As an initial effort to coordinate planning over a vast study area, the plan does not recommend specific projects. Rather, it presents a broader vision and framework for transportation investment policies and strategies. Continuing the ongoing collaboration among the study partners will be key to developing and implementing specific projects and programs consistent with the recommendations of this plan. The plan is being coordinated with the Vermont Agency of Transportation’s ongoing project development efforts in the Corridor, including various railroad initiatives.

2009 Review of relevant multi-way stop warrants for the Ferry and Lake Road intersection. At that time a multi-way stop was not warranted.

This project proposed to develop a plan to significantly reduce the use of private vehicles for transportation by students at Chittenden Valley Union High School (CVU). The original concepts to be explored included: 1. Bicycling to a bus stop and leaving bike in a rack. 2. Improving the connecting roads to CVU. 3. Installing bike racks on buses. In the course of working on the project, several additional concepts were developed.

The Town of Charlotte would like to determine the feasibility and approximate costs of installing sidewalks along Ferry Road in the heart of the Village. The sidewalks would increase pedestrian mobility and safety, and encourage more people to walk rather than drive.

2006 Review of multi-way stop warrants for the Ferry and Lake Road intersection. The preliminary investigation of traffic volumes suggest the volume warrants for a multi-way stop would not be met.

This RSAR is addressing the intersection of Greenbush Road with Thompsons Point Road in Charlotte and includes also the 3/10 mile section of Greenbush Road north of the intersection in Charlotte.
