The Island Line Sign & Amenities Plan aims to link together the existing stretches of the multi-use paths that pass through Burlington, Colchester, and South Hero under a seamless design aesthetic. With potential to extend further south through the Champlain Valley and north to Quebec, the Island Line will become a world-class destination, enriching our communities and enhancing the economic stimulus that the path brings to the region.

The purpose of the study is to determine the corridor’s performance with a coordinated signal system. In addition, this study identifies opportunities and constraints for improving intersection and corridor performance. To evaluate performance a model was developed and calibrated through field observations.

Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) provides a more compact development pattern located within an easy walk of a fixed transit stop (bus or rail), with a mix of residential, employment and shopping opportunities. It focuses on pedestrian-oriented design and provides viable transportation alternatives for residents and workers via walking, bicycling, and transit.

CCMPO engaged DMJM+HARRIS and Basile, Bauman, Prost and Associates, Inc. (BBP Associates) to work with the communities of Winooski, Colchester, Essex and Essex Junction to help develop TOD concept plans for the areas surrounding the proposed passenger rail stations.

Technical Assistance study intending to address crashes at or near the intersection of East Road and Depot Road in Colchester, Vermont

In 1998 the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization sponsored a study of the Route 127 Corridor in Colchester which identified and evaluated the routes physical and functional deficiencies. Standouts among the deficiencies identified included narrow shoulders, substandard intersection geometry, and a lack of facilities for pedestrians, bicyclists and public transit. In 1999 Dufresne-Henry was commissioned to continue the project development process, resulting in this report, which looks at specific sections of the route which have the highest priority and need for improvement and analyzes the suitability of various alternatives.

This study examines potential improvement to Route 2A in the Towns of Essex and Colchester, between its intersection with VT289 at the southern end and US Route 7 at the northern end. The study includes evaluation of the intersection of Route 2A with Mill Pond Road and East Road

CCMPO engaged a team of consultants led by R.L. Banks & Associates, Inc., (RLBA) to assist CCMPO in determining the feasibility of passenger rail service in the Burlington-Essex corridor, assuming it operates as an extension of the Charlotte-Burlington passenger rail project. This report describes the analysis accomplished, as well as the conclusions and recommendations of the consultant.

The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate physical and functional deficiencies along the east-west Route 127 highway corridor through the town of Colchester, to document potential solutions and constraints, and to develop an implementation plan for further project development.
