This study evaluated current traveling speeds and travel conditions on Main Road between Carse Road and Weaver Road in Hanksville, Huntington.  This study developed recommended traffic calming measures to enhance safer travel conditions for all road users within the study area.

The CCRPC Staff evaluated the existing travel conditions, safety conditions, limited sight distance concerns and traffic control at the easternmost intersection of Texas Hill Rd and Texas Hill Circle and provided intersection safety improvements.

Stone Environmental, Inc. (Stone) was contracted by the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) to develop water quality restoration projects with flood mitigation co-benefits for the Town of Huntington (the Town). The Town’s area of concern included the middle Huntington River mainstem, passing through two designated Village Centers, and Texas Hill Brook where it meets the Huntington River. The CCRPC selected fifteen projects for development that were initially recommended in the Huntington River Corridor Plan Update (Barton and Worthley 2009).

This supplemental scoping memo builds upon the 2016 Huntington Lower Village Bicycle and Pedestrian Scoping Study conducted by DuBois & King. The prior study identified several alternatives to address the safety challenges in Huntington's Lower Village but did not result in a preferred alternative that could be moved forward. This supplemental scoping effort was initiated in 2019, was disrupted by the global pandemic in 2020, and was completed in June 2023 when the Huntington Selectboard endorsed a preferred alternative for improvements. This memo summarizes the supplemental scoping effort.

The Town of Huntington with assistance from the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) evaluated the current condition of Town bridges and culverts, and developed an infrastructure improvement plan.  The purpose of this plan is to develop a planning tool for the Town to maintain an overall satisfactory/or better transportation network by repairing, replacing or preserving infrastructure on a programmed schedule, and increase condition ratings of structures and to inform the annual municipal budget for bridges and culverts maintenance.

The Town of Huntington requested a traffic speed study for Camels Hump Road from Main Road to the parking area at the end of road. In order for a Legislative Body to determine a safe and reasonable speed on town highways, a traffic engineering investigation (speed study) is required by Vermont Statutes Annotated Title 23, § 1007. This document provides supporting findings that were used to develop recommendations for setting a speed limit for Camels Hump Road.

The Town of Huntington owns and maintains Main Road, running from the Richmond Town Line to the Buel’s Gore Line. This study documents a roadway condition evaluation of Main Rd to assess the costs for the town maintainance in the short (5 year) and long term (20 year) time frames. The document summarizes the inventory, geotechnical borings, maintenance history, estimated repair and maintenance costs, and proposed maintenance strategies.

This project deals with the study of alternatives for correcting existing deficiencies on Bridge No. 10 over Huntington River in Huntington, Vermont. The bridge carries a town-maintained highway and is owned by the town. The purpose of the project is to improve safety and mobility for vehicular traffic, bicycles, and pedestrians along Main Road in the town of Huntington at the location of this bridge crossing.

The bridge carries a town-maintained highway and is owned by the town. The purpose of the project is to improve safety and mobility for vehicular traffic, bicycles, and pedestrians along Main Road in the town of Huntington at the location of this bridge crossing.

This study was undertaken at the request of the Town of Huntington in order to evaluate existing and potential speed transition zones buffering the town’s three villages along Main Road. The appendices contain 3 distinct Speed Limit Engineering Studies for different locations along Main Road.
