Subsequent to the release of the September 2000 forecasts, the United States Bureau of the Census released individual town population data taken from the 2000 decennial census. The release of these data, provide additional insight into recent county and town level growth patterns. The new data have been incorporated into these population updates.

The purpose of this project is to understand the parking and circulation issues arising from the cumulative development proposals for the Waterfront. For the purposes of this analysis, the Burlington Waterfront extends along both sides of Lake Street from Main Street on the south to the Moran Plant to the north. Over the next 5-10 years, significant public and private investment is expected to take place in this area. Enough is known about the amount and types of this investment that a reasonable build-out description can be developed.

This study examines potential improvement to Route 2A in the Towns of Essex and Colchester, between its intersection with VT289 at the southern end and US Route 7 at the northern end. The study includes evaluation of the intersection of Route 2A with Mill Pond Road and East Road

Examines three proposed local roads included in official South Burlington city plans. The three roads would provide access between Dorset Street and Hinesburg Road (VT Route 116) in the southeastern area of the city. To examine the planned roads in detail, several scenarios were developed for analysis using the Regional Transportation Model.

This Traffic Calming Study takes seventeen study area streets, selected by the City, through the first two steps of this process. Guidance is then provided for completing the process for these streets and applying the entire process to other City streets.

The Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) contracted with Resource Systems Group to conduct the Chittenden County Year 2000 Transportation Survey. The primary objectives of the survey were to measure satisfaction with the county’s transportation system among those who live and work in the county and to gather public opinion on how future transportation dollars should be spent. By asking respondents their opinion on a wide range of transportation issues including road maintenance, sidewalk quality, public transportation, and bike paths, the CCMPO is better able to understand which areas the general public feels require the most attention. The results of the survey will be used to aid in the formulation of the county’s 2025 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.

The Chittenden County Regional Plan serves a variety of purposes. According to Chapter 117 of Vermont statutes, the purpose of the regional plan is to: ...recommend a distribution of population and the uses of the land for urbanization, trade, industry, habitation, recreation, agriculture, forestry, and other uses.

The intersection of Spear Street & Lime Kiln Road in the Town of Charlotte been identified as a substandard intersection by the town. This intersection is located at the top of a hill and has inadequate sight distances. The purpose of this study is to explore cost effective ways to improve the intersection.

The Village of Essex Junction requested the MPO examine the automating a switch between the New England Central Railroad Mainline and the Winooski Branch of the New England Central Railroad, which travels to Burlington. In response to this request, the MPO has examined what it would take to automate the switch and presents the general findings in this report.

In late 1999, Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU), the Town of Hinesburg, and other interested parties initiated a project to explore the potential for integrating public transit and student transit in the CVU School District. This study was undertaken to determine what problems currently exist with public and student transit in the District and to identify issues and opportunities for solving these problems by fully or partially integrating student and new public transit services.
