The City of South Burlington's Active Transportation Plan (ATP) is a comprehensive plan detailing the vision, goals, and strategic recommendations designed to advance active transportation across South Burlington. Leveraging insights gained from previous studies, extensive community input, and an in-depth planning process, the ATP focuses on prioritizing and implementing infrastructure and initiatives to create safer and more accessible transportation options for everyone.

The Northern Waterfront Connections Study was conducted to identify and evaluate conceptual alternatives for a new pedestrian connection between the downtown core and the northern waterfront. The study team included the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), the City of Burlington Community & Economic Development Office (CEDO), Burlington Office of Planning, and the Burlington Department of Public Works (DPW).

The Richmond Gateway Scoping Study is part of a multi-year Town effort to improve infrastructure within Richmond’s western gateway area. The study investigates possible biking, walking, and other active transportation links between Richmond Village center, the Richmond Elementary School and Camels Hump Middle School campus, the Riverview Commons neighborhood, and the Exit 11 Park and Ride. This study complements the 2014 Route 2 Bicycle and Pedestrian Scoping Report, which examined a similar study area.

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) and the Town of Hinesburg retained Hoyle, Tanner & Associates, Inc. (Hoyle Tanner) to prepare a Crosswalk Scoping Study to investigate potential pedestrian safety improvements at two locations along the Vermont Route 116 corridor in Hinesburg -- Silver Street intersection with Vermont Route 116 and Mechanicsville Road intersection with Vermont Route 116.

With the upcoming construction of the I-89 Exit 14 bicycle-pedestrian bridge in South Burlington, a major impediment to active transportation in the Chittenden County region will be addressed. However, the bridge project is limited to only the bridge and landings and does not include connections to existing and planned active transportation infrastructure. The City of South Burlington initiated the Bike/Pedestrian Bridge over I-89 Connections project to identify priority improvements to connect people and places in the areas surrounding the I-89 bridge. Due to other concurrent studies that addressed most locations in this project, the study concluded by offering conceptual recommendations for further consideration at two sites: Williston Road: Interchange to Jughandle and Quarry Hill/Spear Intersection.

The CCRPC worked with the City of Winooski and consultant VHB to create comprehensive walk/bike plan. The plan provides the vision for a connected network of walking and biking facilities that gets people safely to where they want to go. The final plan includes a prioritized set of  recommendations.

South Burlington, through the CCRPC's UPWP, sought the support of WSP to provide technical services for exploring lighting improvements to better serve the needs of bicyclists and pedestrians using the separated, 1.5-mile, shared-use path that runs parallel to the west bound lanes of Kennedy Drive between Dorset Street and Williston Road.

This is the second year of Park Your CARbon, an updated and re-imagined version of the previous Way to Go! Challenge. Park Your CARbon is an awareness campaign encouraging Vermonters to park their vehicle for one trip, one day, or one week in an effort to curb carbon emissions and promote the use of other transportation modes. This report summarizes the media outreach and results.
