A comparison of the external costs associated with both truck freight and rail freight shipments within the Middlebury-Burlington corridor. Net benefits are calculated of increasing the use of rail in this area to 100% of its current capacity.

The Spear Street Corridor Study is a transportation study of a four (4) mile corridor of Spear St. in South Burlington, extending from the Shelburne Town Line north to Main St. (US Route 2). The study purpose was to identify existing and future deficiencies in this corridor, identify the probable transportation impacts of proposed development and candidate transportation system improvements, and recommend specific actions that the City of South Burlington and developers need to undertake in order to improve the function of the roadway. A key work task was to develop a preliminary improvement plan for the Spear St.Swift St. intersection.

Covering the corridor for VT 15 from the Essex/Jericho Town line in Chittenden County, through Lamoille County, and on to Hardwick located in Caledonia County, this plan presents a list of transportation system recommendations and identifies land use planning and regulatory tools that will help preserve the corridor’s function as a minor arterial while protecting and eventually enhancing the quality of life throughout the study area.

The Jericho Transportation Study investigates and assesses the existing transportation system, evaluates future conditions, and presents a list of recommendations. The study will be used by the Jericho Planning Commission as it updates the Municipal Plan, the Development Review Board to assist with project review, and the Selectboard as it updates the Capital Plan and considers impact fees. The transportation network has been analyzed for intersection performance, capacity analysis, safety, and suitability for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Scoping Report on ABRB (Albany-Bennington-Rutland-Burlington) Corridor within the State, entailing indentification of necessary infrastructure upgrades.

The purpose of the study is to determine the corridor’s performance with a coordinated signal system. In addition, this study identifies opportunities and constraints for improving intersection and corridor performance. To evaluate performance a model was developed and calibrated through field observations.

Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) provides a more compact development pattern located within an easy walk of a fixed transit stop (bus or rail), with a mix of residential, employment and shopping opportunities. It focuses on pedestrian-oriented design and provides viable transportation alternatives for residents and workers via walking, bicycling, and transit.

This study analyzed several potential improvements to the I-89 corridor between Exits 12 and 15, including the Exit 12B interchange. While the study was initiated as an Environmental Assessment, it stopped well short of this and recommendations were made to proceed separately with several individual projects. Traffic projections and environmental screening were performed including potential wetland and archaeological impacts within or near the Interstate right of way (ROW), as well as potential air and noise impacts.
