The plan is intended for use by regional planning commissions, local governments, private and public developers, utilities, state and federal officials, and interested citizens. Many of the goals and policies are illustrated by maps to assist the determination of how regional goals relate to the needs of the region. The CCRPC will pro-actively seek consistency between contemplated projects, plans, and this plan. The plan serves this function by articulating a vision for the future of the region, charting a path to achieve the vision, providing a means of balancing competing interests in effectuating the plan, suggesting realistic implementation measures, and serving as a reference document. This document is meant to be a plan and shall not be construed as a bylaw.

This document is the Comprehensive Plan for Chittenden Region writtenand issued by the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission, which was formed on March 1, 1966 by fourteen municipalities within Chittenden County. The general purpose of this Comprehensive Plan is to provide guidelines for our eighteen communities and developers for the future coordinated, efficient and economic development of this Region. This Plan, like local plans, will be continually reviewed and updated as appropriate to reflect the changing needs of the citizens of this Region.
