The Act 250 permit approval for the Burlington Waterfront Park requires that a traffic study be completed to assess the conditions at the College Street railroad crossing. This study documents the summer of 1993 pedestrian and vehicular traffic counts as well as a five year projection of pedestrian and vehicular volumes at the crossing locations. The focus of the study is to evaluate the safety of the College Street railroad crossing.

Water Shuttle Feasibility Study

If shown to be feasible, a waterborne shuttle service could help to alleviate congestion on Route 7 and function to support an intermodal transportation center concept for the Burlington waterfront. In order to undertake this study, the consultants contacted a number of sources for information on present conditions in the Burlington Harbor and areas to the South, and on water shuttle operations which exist in other communities.

This memorandum summarizes the findings and recommendations for the examination of locations along U.S. Route 7 in the Town of Milton. This document reflects comments received from the Town and the client, the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), at a preliminary briefing, and is accompanied by four scaled aerial photograph plan sheets depicting the recommendations. The memorandum is organized by the four locations examined along U.S. Route 7 intersections with: 1. Lake Road, 2. Main Street, 3. Middle Road/Railroad Street Extension, and 4. West Milton Road/Racine Road. Each of the locations is discussed below beginning with a description of existing conditions and observed problems.
