Vermont 15 Corridor Study: Essex to Winooski

30.4 MB
Year:
2015
Theme:
Corridor, Route 15, Transportation, Vermont 15
Description:
The goal of the VT 15 Corridor Study is to develop a comprehensive multi-modal transportation improvement plan (Plan) for the VT 15 corridor from Main Street (“Circulator”) in Winooski through the towns of Colchester and Essex and the Village of Essex Junction, to the border of Essex and Jericho. The Susie Wilson Corridor from VT 15 to VT 2A was also addressed. The Plan presents a long-term vision and goals for the corridor and recommends a number of short, medium and long-term transportation and land use strategies to achieve the vision over time. Transportation strategies developed for the study area address highway, pedestrian, bicycle and public transit modes. Land use, access management and corridor aesthetic strategies were also developed that support the long term vision of the VT 15 corridor. This Plan builds on the numerous planning efforts, development programs and projects that have been initiated over the last several years along the VT 15 Corridor by state, regional and local entities. This final report includes all interim reports prepared throughout this study to: assess the current and future land use and transportation conditions in the study area; develop a vision and goals for the study corridors; and articulate strategies to achieve the vision through a detailed implementation plan.
